What is the significance of the Bucyrus logo design?
The current logo was developed in 1997 to not only represent a globally focused company, but also depict the markets in which Bucyrus operates. The Bucyrus name is framed above by graphic elements that represent spoil piles from coal, phosphate and bauxite mines, while the elements below the name represent open pit benches of copper and iron ore mines.

Why did Bucyrus change its name from Bucyrus-Erie to Bucyrus International, Inc.?
The company was founded in Bucyrus, Ohio in 1880 as the Bucyrus Foundry and Manufacturing Company. Many decades later, it became Bucyrus-Erie, a name known worldwide for high quality excavating machinery. In 1996, the name was changed to Bucyrus International, Inc. to more accurately reflect our global leadership in the surface mining industry.

What happened to Minserco?
Following the completion of the acquisition of DBT, Minserco was renamed Bucyrus Field Services. Bucyrus Field Services provides assistance with MARC programs, Operating / Stripping Contracts, Machine Moves & Erections, Turnkey Repair, Component Rebuilds, OEM-Certified Machine Rebuilds, Bucket / Dipper Manufacture and other Technical Services.

What happened to Contel?
In 2004, Bucyrus purchased Contel Plus of South Africa and formed the Bucyrus Contel Electrical Division. The Contel Division has been expanded to meet the electrical aftermarket service and upgrade needs of our customers around the world. Following the completion of the acquisition of DBT, the Contel name was phased out and services put under Bucyrus Aftermarket Services.
